One of the things I love most about devotionals is that they come in so many forms, have so many different topics, and can be as long or as short as you want them. The options and locations for small groups nowadays are almost endless. Being in a small group allows you to not just reconnect with God, but also allows you to connect with others.
Some of my best friends have come from me joining a small group. Our need to be connected with God and others is so ingrained in who we are and how God created us. That is why when we are feeling disconnected from God or others, like our husbands or kids, we have to take the necessary steps to reconnect.

I love these ideas! We often overlook self-awareness in this process! These are great tips! Definitely agree that fasting from other things besides food will help us draw close to God! It is so important to embrace how powerful fasting can be. Gently remind yourself that it was not God who moved. You did. So, come back. Finally, draw a line and step across it. I choose to walk with the Lord. Get back to church, and dust off your Bible and start reading it.
October 16, God knows that and He understands. I recommend giving yourself at least minutes every day. When you intentionally choose the same place to meet with God each day, it will become routine. Learning to restart and redefine time with God means making positive changes to foster the goal of having a deeper relationship with Jesus through His Word.
There is nothing wrong with meeting God at the same time and place each day. Choose a space where you feel comfortable and at peace. Wherever it is, make sure it is a place you are content and at rest. I have a leather chair in my family room. Every morning I sit there with my Bible, notebook, and steaming cup of coffee. This can be tough. Looking at that huge book broken up into 66 pieces of ancient text can seem overwhelming.
You can do this! The key is to choose one of the 66 books and stick to it from beginning to end. I recommend starting with the gospel of John. I love the way his personality shines as the Holy Spirit speaks through Him. Regardless, you need to choose a Bible that works well for you. Think about either doing an online search, or going to a bookstore where you can grab a cup of coffee, a stack of Bibles, and scan text.
Make sure you can understand it, and then choose what works best for you. We have to trust that the Holy Spirit will reveal what the Father wants us to know, and be satisfied in taking small steps in our journey of learning His Word.
We just have to be willing to get to know our God. Strong pain like that will often cause us to hate God. Yes, I know we should run to Him in time of trouble, but the sad truth is, many of us do not.
I had served God faithfully from a young age. Why would He take my only daughter? How could He do that to me? Anger is similar in that it is consuming. You may be angry at a person, a situation, or God Himself. Whichever the case, it will separate you from God. Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need. Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.
And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.

Including God in the process is key to healing. Do not push away the only one who can help you through your pain and frustration. Pray and be open to the answer.
