Just called up about a car advertised as "C2S 3. I'd assumed that mean that it was a reg, but was first registered between Turns out the dealer meant it was a model year, but first registered in the latter half of Who is right? I have a car on a 56 plate but it's a MY model year as if Porsche change anything they "tool up" the factory during the August shutdown and the "next model year" cars begin after the shutdown.

If someone asked what year my car was I'd say , if someone asked what model year I'd say Tino 1, posts months. Naughty, but it seems that anything built in the latter half of that year becomes next years model year car. NB: For the purposes of working out when a vehicle was registered, a year actually starts in March.

So a '04 plate' actually means that the vehicle was registered between March and August in Vehicles registered in the second half of the year display the same number as those registered within the first half of the year but with 50 added onto it. So vehicles registered in the second half of which actually means from September to February will have a '54 plate', such as AB54 XYZ.
